SOFTWARE REGISTER

1. COMPUTER PROGRAM

 According to the Law # 9609 of February 19th, 1998, it was established that the "SOFTWARE" computer programs would have the Copyright legal as a way of protecting the interests of whom develops them.

The National Institute of Industrial Property - INPI, federal autarchy linked to the Industry, Trade and Tourism Department, is the responsible organ for registrations of computer programs, in agreement with the Decree # 2556 of April 20th, 1998.

 

2.WHAT IS A COMPUTER PROGRAM?

A computer program is the expression of an organized group of instruction's in natural language or codified, contained in physical support of any nature, of necessary application in automatic machines of information treatment, instruments of outlying pieces of equipment, based on digital or similar technique, to make them work for certain ends.

 

3.WHAT IS THE VALIDITY PERIOD?

The validity period is 50 (fifty) years counting from January 1st of the year after the program was created, having the absolute secrecy of the parts of the program brought to register at INPI garanteed. The title-holder can indicate the date of the deposit of the requested registration like being the date of the program creation.

 

4.WHY DO I HAVE TO REGISTER  THE PROGRAM?

The registration occurs so that it can guarantee the exclusiveness in the computer program production, usage and commercialization, the one who's interested should prove the authorship of the same.
